How to Make an Italian Pizza

web 2 octobr.png

This week we looked at a variety of instructions and began identifying some of the features in instructions. We then created our class instructions for how to make a pizza and we then made them on Tuesday as part of our Italian themed day.

It was lovely to meet parents on Thursday and hear feedback about homework, reading and the TT rockstars.

Just a reminder that we have our 'World War 2' day coming up on Tuesday this week and it will be a non uniform day for all of middle school and the children are encouraged to dress up in World War 2 themed clothes,

Have a good weekend,

Mr Holmes and Mrs Curtis

World War 2

WW2 edited.jpg

This week we have continued our exciting history topic of World War 2 and specifically what it was like to be a child during the evacuation. A huge thank you to Mrs Dellow for coming in to talk about her experiences throughout this time in her life. I was very impressed with how the children responded to the mature themes that she discussed. I know they are looking forward to the WW2 day at the begining of October. My apologies for not getting the parents evening slips handed out before Friday, I kept forgetting.

A thank you to all parents for 100% of the homework being submitted this week.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Holmes and Mrs Curtis

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory!

This week we have been learning and reading about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory for our Literacy. We will continue to look at this over the next few weeks and will be doing some writiing around the story. Reading books have been handed out this week and I would like to thank the parents for writing in the reading records when they have heard their child read. My expectation is that they read at least 3 times during the week at home. If they exceed this they will be rewarded in school for an excellent attitude to reading.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Holmes and Mrs Curtis.

Welcome To Maple!

Hello and Welcome Back from Mr Holmes and Mrs Curtis!

I am glad that everyone had such interesting summer holidays and proud to say that everyone has settled back and made a positivie start to the term. I have explained to the children that we have changed the reading system slightly and that is why they haven't been given books to take home just yet. This week, and for the following 5 weeks we are fortunate to get a 30minute minfullness session on a Thursday which saw the children describing how they were feeling using weather systems and learn some relaxing breathing techniques.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Holmes & Mrs Curtis

Goodbye Maple!

IMG_3056.jpg IMG_2951.jpg IMG_2849.jpg IMG_2833.jpg

Good afternoon, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all the pupils who have been in Maple this year! Myself, Mrs Mair, Mrs Phillips, Mrs Hodges and Mrs Attril have throughly enjoyed working with each and every child over the course of the year. Even though the children are moving to either Lime or Sycamore they will always be welcome to come back and say hello.

This week we had our annual French day where the children were able to practice the french they have learnt all year and ask for various french foods.

Last few days of term coming up. Could we please have back any school reading books back into school?

If you are missing PE kit, you are welcome to drop in and have a look through the unamed box in our class.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Holmes

What We Have Been Learning About!

The past two weeks have been great,

We have learned what goes on a healthy plate,

We have studied the Romans,

and learned what it is to be humans.

We have learned that bones keep you strong,

If you don't believe us you are wrong,

We have counted up to subtract,

We have also learned to count back,

In English we have been brushing up on our poetry,

As well as learning that not all past tense verbs end in ed,

Meanwhiile in PE we are learning how to move safely,

Because Mr Holmes says that in the classroom we are too noisy,

We've learned lots of French words for food,

However Mr Holmes can't pronounce them any good,

in the coming weeks we want to show,

Just how much we can grow,

Mr Holmes.
