Poetry Week

Capture.JPG Poetry week 4 (1).JPG

Sycamore have really enjoyed a week of listening to, writing and sharing poetry. We started off the week by exploring the work of Michael Rosen and listened to lots of his performance poetry. The children took inspiration from his poem Don't Do and wrote their own version. On Wednesday we were visited by Paul Jenkins. He wrote a short Egyptian poem with the class which we then used as inspiration for our own rhyming class Egyptian poem.

Thank you to all those who attended parents evening this week. We really enjoyed talking to you about the children's hard work and progress this term. We hope that you all have a restful and enjoyable half term.

Only a week to go!

Only a week to go, the children have been working extremely hard this week.  Lovely to see so many children excited about timestable rockstar and coming in and telling us how they are doing.

This week the children have completed their big write and we are pleased with all the skills that they have remembered and demonstrated.  In maths they have been working on multiplication and coordinates.

Shake it Up! - Experimenting with gases

Science 1.JPG science 3.JPG science 2.JPG

As part of our new Science topic on 'Changing States', children conducted an investigation to find out how fizzy different carbonated drinks were. First they learnt that all gas has mass and then they put this to the test in their experiment. Lots and lots of fizzy drinks were shaken to release the gas . We found out that coke and sparkling grape juice was the fizziest!

Thank you very much to all children for taking part in children in need.  The costumes were brilliant and they all enjoyed the morning wake up with Joe Wicks.  We appreciate all the donations that the children brought in for such a good cause.
