We would like to say well done to children for the improvement in homework. The vast majority of the class are completing and handing in on time. This is great preparation for the SATS and for secondary school next year.
We look forward to meeting parents/carers on 13th/14th February, when we can discuss individual progress and targets.
After a hard week of SATs papers last week we have been able to go through the results with the pupils. This is a key part of the process to help with understanding the questions and avoiding the same mistakes for next time.
Within Literacy we have been researching family members to prepare for our next Big Write. We were very lucky to have war medals and memorabilia bought in by one pupil. It was fantastic to see the achievements of her Great Grandfather.
In maths we are moving onto capacity. The pupils will be looking at weight, length and volume.
Well done to the pupils who took part in the Cross Country truials. The frosty conditions were the perfect introduction to Cross Country running!
There is still time to sign up for the Bikeability course in half term. Please see the office for details.
Please send in your parents evening appointments so that we can organise a timetable.
Homework set this week will be; spellings, story book, perimieter and an additonal maths sheet.
Have a great week.
The Year 6 pupils have come straight back to some hard work!
This week we have started some practise SATs papers to assess the pupils' progress so far.
In additon to this, we have begun looking at biographies in preparation for our next Big Write. The pupils have been set the homework of researching a family member to write their biography on.
Our new topic in history is Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.
During this half term, we will be working with a specilaist coach from the School Sports Partnership. The project is called Fit4Action.
Please remember to return your BIkeability forms if you are interested in your child taking part in this course.
It has been great to see the children again and hear about their holidays.
Over the last week we have been focussing on the History of Romans and Celts. The class activities have included comprehension tasks, timelines and researching Roman life. We have been impressed with the children's general knowledge on these topics.
We have been overwhelmed with your kind cards and generous gifts, thank you so much.
The final thing for us to do is to wish you all a lovely Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
We look forward to seeing the pupils in January.

On Thursday, Year 6 were set an electrifying challenge: Using all of their knowledge so far, they were asked to design and build a Christmas decoration that had a working electrical circuit, complete with bulbs, buzzers, motors and switches. The results had varying degress of success, but the teamwork and the imagination involved were fantastic. Well done, Year 6!
