Welcome to our class page.
Check back here to see what has been happening in Acorn Class.
Acorn class had so much fun dressing as their favourite characters from the movies. We raised lots of money for Children in Need and even joined in with 'The Big Morning Move'.
Thank you for your donations and for the brilliant costumes! Congratulations to Luke and Jessica who won a special prize for their efforts!
Don't forget to return your Colchester Zoo slips. Please return your Christmas card slip and money to the 'Friends of Jotmans Hall' box at the school office.
Donations: If you have any spare socks or pants, please could we kindly have them as we are running very low now!
New sounds for next week are: u and r. In our Maths sessions, we are looking at '1 more than'.
See you all on Monday! Bring your hats, scarves and gloves!
The Acorn Team.
So far in our phonics lessons, we have learnt the following sounds and action tricks for:
s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c and k.
The keyring sounds are working well as our children are showing great progress in our daily phonics lessons. The children have been working on blending sounds to understand new words. Thank you to everyone who has been using the keyrings at home to support your child.
All children are enjoying their books. Getting excited about a book and telling a story from pictures is an important first step to reading. Please remember to move your child's name in the cloakroom if you wish for them to change their book - this can be done as often as you wish.
So far in our Maths lessons, the children have been learning the value of numbers and all of the different ways we can make these numbers. We have also incorporated lots of counting activities throughout the day as part of our classroom provision.
Next week, our sounds are: ck and e. In maths we are learning about the value of 10 and ways to make 10.
The children will also be learning about 'Remembrance Day' on Monday.
Have a good weekend!
The Acorn team.
Today the school enjoyed learning all about the Hindu festival of Diwali.
Along with the other year groups, Acorn class coloured in a giant Rangoli pattern on the school playground with chalk. The children enjoyed learning about the festival and all of the wonderful colours that are used during this celebration.
All of the children have been sent home with a reading book, reading record and a phonics key ring, along with a letter explaining how to best utilise these resources.
Enjoy the week off! See you all on the 4th November
